Hsin-Hsien Chiu

Hsin-Hsien Chiu is a distinguished professor at School of Architecture, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). He also works as a curator for international exhibitions, Executive Director of Center for Digital Design & Innovation (CDDI), as well as Chair of Dept. of Design (integrating three departments in 2021: Digital Media Technologies & Art, Environmental Design, and Industrial Design) at HIT.

Hsin-Hsien taught as faculty for the M.Arch design studio, and was a researcher in the Dept. of Architecture at UC Berkeley for more than 10 years. He was also a director of research and design associate in the architecture firms in San Francisco. Hsin-Hsien has been working in architecture practice for many years, including with architecture firms, construction, and development companies in The United States and Asia. He has won several international architecture competitions individually, as well as placing first in several competitions as part of a team. Meanwhile, he is a writer and columnist for multiple publications on topics involving architecture, new media, health care, design and fashion. He has published books, design projects, and articles on international conferences, architecture/ design magazines, newspapers, and national broadcast interviews.

Recently, he was invited as a curator in “2021 Future Lab: Art and Design Educational Expo” in Shanghai, China, and held a special exhibition for Body Conscious Design (BCD), working with Galen Cranz to show multiple design projects in various scales. Meanwhile, he also works with Cranz for multiple publications regarding BCD, such as the winning-prize design magazine, La Vie, and broad cast interview, News 98, in Asia.
